Day 1 : Route – Airport / Colombo

Drive Time – Approximately 45 Minutes

Arrive in Sri Lanka in the style you deserve, greeted by your chauffeur guide and transferred directly to Colombo – the island’s urban center where your journey begins.

On arrival in Colombo take your time to check-in to your hotel and spend some time at leisure. In the afternoon, once you’ve caught your breath, meet with an international commercial Photographer experienced in shooting in Sri Lanka who can give you tips and insight on what to capture while you are here.

Day 2 : Route – Colombo

Drive Time – Exploring Colombo

In the morning, after a delicious breakfast, explore the wonders of Colombo and its unique historical sites.

After a busy day of capturing Colombo’s urban color and colonial charm, retire to your accommodations to see what you have shot or have a luxurious dinner out on the town.

Day 3 : Route – Colombo / Anuradhapura

After a good night’s sleep and an early breakfast, set out from the noise and chaos of the city and into the island’s ancient highlights of The Cultural Triangle. Your first stop will be a visit to the remains of majestic Anuradhapura – the beginning of Sri Lankan civilization, one of the greatest cities of its age, and home of The Sacred Bo Tree.

Relax at the hotel, have a swim in the pool, and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 4 : Route – Anuradhapura / Polonnaruwa / Habarana

Drive Time – Anuradhapura to Polonnaruwa – Approx. 1.5 hours / Polonnaruwa to Habarana – Approx. 1 hour

Having gotten your first taste of Sri Lanka’s illustrious history in Anuradhapura, today, you will make the trip to its second capitol, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, for a look at some of the island’s most dazzling ruins from its next significant era.

On your way to Polonnaruwa, and later to your accommodations in Habarana, stop by Mihintale to take some picturesque shots of the cradle of Sri Lankan Buddhism.

Make your way to the hotel in Habarana and spend the rest of your evening at leisure.

Day 5 : Route – Habarana / Sigiriya

Drive Time – Approx. 0.5 hours

Accommodation – Cinnamon Lodge

Depart early morning with a packed breakfast to climb and shoot one of the island’s most spectacular sights – the 5th century rock fortress of Sigiriya.

Return to the hotel, perhaps enjoy an Ayurvedic treatment, and spend the rest of your evening at leisure.

Day 6 : Route – Sigiriya / Dambulla / Kandy

Drive Time – Sigiriya to Dambulla – Approx. 1/2 hour / Dambulla to Kandy – Approx. 02 hours

Journey south today out of the arid dry-lands and up into the lush green jungle to the magical city of Kandy – the Hill Capitol of Sri Lanka and the last stronghold of the Sinhalese Kingdom.  En route, visit one of the Sri Lanka’s most magical Buddhist treasures – the spectacular cave temples of Dambulla.

After your visit to Dambulla, continue to your hotel in Kandy, check-in, and enjoy a city tour once you arrive.

During the afternoon, pay a visit to the Temple of the Tooth and join the Buddhists who, dressed in all white, offer puja while catching a glimpse of the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha.

Spend the evening in the city center, close to the temple, watching an unforgettable show photographing Traditional Kandyan Dancers with all their vibrant colors.

 

Day 7 : Route – Kandy / Nuwara Eliya

Drive Time – Approx. 2 hours

After an early breakfast, today you will travel up those verdant green hills that surround Kandy and venture further into Sri Lanka’s most beautiful and magic region – the Hill Country – proceeding to the quiet town of Nuwara Eliya.

With its cool air, magnificent waterfalls, and thriving tea culture, the enchanting allure of these hills has to be seen to believe. The drive to Sri Lanka’s “Little England” is a highlight of any trip to Sri Lanka. And this is a drive where you will want to have your camera ready! You will take winding roads through the gorgeously lush plantations past tea bushes trimmed by regular picking that look like green sculptures stretching up and down the misty hills as far as the eye can see. Photograph the 300ft shimmering cascade of Ramboda Falls as you make your way. Enjoy your journey – this is the complete experience.

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya and continue to your hotel to check-in. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, shooing pictures of your surroundings, or with a cup of tea in your hand, enjoying the pleasant change in temperature.

Day 8 : Route – Nuwara Eliya / Negombo

Drive Time – Approx. 5 hours

Accommodation – Jetwing Beach

Meal Basis – Bed and Breakfast

Now, having photographed the best of Sri Lanka’s unforgettable historical sites as well as some of its natural wonders, you will be ready for a relaxing night after making your way back to the vicinity of the international airport. Head north to Kotugoda to a luxurious setting among the manicured gardens of a colonial manor house to bask in the sun for your final night on the island.

Stretch back by the luxurious pool with a drink in your hand and reflect on your time in Sri Lanka. Watch the sunset over the tropical landscape and marvel at its rich pinks and ambers as you look through the amazing photographs you’ve taken over the last week.

Day 9 : Route – Negombo / Airport

Drive Time – Approx. 30 minutes

Though it will be difficult to say goodbye, all good things come to an end. Your representative from Jetwing Travels will meet you on time at the hotel lobby to return you by way of a scenic drive to the international airport for your departing flight and a safe journey home.
