What to Expect

12 Nights / 13 Days

This itinerary has been carefully designed to give you a taste of the exciting, endless possibilities and can be tailored to suit your exact preferences.

Day 1 : Route – Airport / Colombo

Drive Time – Approx. 1 ½ hours

Accommodation – The Notary’s House | Superior suite

Meal Basis – Bed and breakfast basis

On arrival at the International Airport, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to the hotel in Makandura (Approx. 1 ½ hours).

Check in to the hotel and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 2 : Route – Makandura

Accommodation – The Notary’s House

Room type  – Superior suite

Meal Basis  – Bed and breakfast basis

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, you can do a small trek to the Dikkele forest. The dense foliage of the neighboring Dikkale forest reserve, a local biodiversity hotspot with a wide range of flora and fauna, offers some very pleasant trails. The reserve is 500 meters from the hotel but it is possible to extend this route when journeying by cycle to tak  e in more of the local area. This is recommended for all nature lovers. Return to the hotel & spend some leisure time near the beautiful lake in front of the hotel.

The Notary’s House has a selection of simple bikes and helmets for use free of charge by guests. Pick a bike that suits and set off on a tropical cycling adventure! Guests are most welcome to explore the area alone but they usually send a guide to lead to way.

The forest and village surrounding The Notary’s House offer some charming cycle routes which guests can take at their own pace. Ride past scenic paddy fields with resident buffalo and egrets and surrounded by rural households and their seasonal crops. You will be greeted with the warm smiles of the locals as you ride along and quite possibly have the occasional curious house dog tagging along for a while.

Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3 : Route – Makandura / Kandy

Drive Time –  Approx. 04 ½ hours

Accommodation – Santani Wellness Resort

Basis – Full board basis + wellness treatments

Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Kandy to your wellness retreat

Check in and relax.

Day 4-5 : Route – Kandy

Accommodation– Santani Wellness Resort

Meal Basis – Full board basis + wellness treatments

Immerse yourself in a wellness experience for three days. Your treatments are included in the package (Santani Bliss)

-Daily wellness treatments (60 – 90 mins), wellness activities such as trekking, hiking and mountain biking, daily yoga, use of sauna, steam and salt bath.

Day 6 : Route – Kandy / Hatton

Drive Time -Approx. 02 ½ hours’ drive

Accommodation – Ceylon Tea Trails

Meal Basis – All Inclusive Basis

After a leisurely breakfast, you will proceed to Hatton

The slow winding road gradually takes you pass panoramas of lush green tea fields to the misty hill country town.

Check in to your bungalow and spend the day at leisure or take a bicycle ride to the mountains. Ceylon Tea Trails has opened up a world of adventure and discovery in the Bogawantalawa Valley at an altitude of over 1500 meters. The unspoiled beauty of the surrounding valleys and hills are a great biking experience. They have mountain bikes in the bungalows for complimentary use. For longer rides we recommend that you take one of their guides along.

Day 7 : Route – Hatton

Accommodation –Ceylon Tea Trails

Breakfast at the hotel. You will do the below activities in your tea plantation bungalow.

Tea experience, this is the essential Tea Trails experience. Their Resident Tea Planter will demonstrate the age-old tea making process. First, follow the trail of the planters of old Ceylon, as they trekked through the dense jungle looking for the best slopes on which to plant tea. Then on to watch the tea pluckers pick two leaves and a bud with deft hands. Then to the factory where the all-important conversion to “made” black tea happens. The machinery used is of very traditional British design, some as old as 100 years.

Thereafter, Proceed to Kitulgala for white water rafting (Approx. 01 hour 15 mins drive per way) after coming off the slopes of Adam’s Peak, the clear waters of the Kelani River wind their way through the Hill Country of Sri Lanka before emptying into the Indian Ocean. Your adventure starts at a beautiful nature base in Kitulgala about 75 minutes from Ceylon Tea Trails. After a safety briefing and a few pointers on rafting technique, you’ll jump right into the action. Seven high quality, class III rapids and warm water make the Kelani a premier introduction to the sport of whitewater or an exciting choice for experienced rafters.


Day 8 : Route – Hatton

Accommodation – Ceylon Tea Trails

Meal Basis – All Inclusive Basis

Breakfast at the hotel. Read a book while sipping some Ceylon tea and spend the day at leisure.

Day 9 : Route – Hatton / Airport

Having reached at the end of your program, you will be transferred to the Bandaranaike International Airport (Approx. 05 hours drive) from where you will continue onwards to your next destination.
