Day 3 : Route – Ambewela to Horton Plains to Hakgala to Nuwara Eilya

Drive time: Approx. 3 hours drive

Make an early start and visit Horton Plains National Park hand in hand. The park is a protected area in the central highlands rich in bio-diversity. The plains are also headwaters of three major rivers in Sri Lanka. View the romantic sunrise from the edge of World’s End as well as visit Baker’s Fall together. You will not forget smiling at each other whilst the spray of the waterfall rains down on you gently. Begin your trek before the clouds descend to see the vast mountains in distance. You will be delighted with the sunrise in its magical beauty. The cloud forests have endemic plants, animals, and gushing waterfalls, which all together make a paradise to walk along, helping each other and never letting go of one another’s hand.

Afterwards stop at Seeta Aman temple and obtain blessings and a protective thread from the priest. This colorful Hindu temple is said to mark the spot where Sita was held captive by the demon king Rawana, and where she prayed daily for loving husband, Rama, to come and rescue her. On the rock face across the stream are circular depressions said to be the footprints of Rawana’s elephant.

Later on explore the small town of Nuwara Eliya on foot or even on bicycles. With its cool air, magnificent waterfalls, and thriving tea culture, the enchanting allure of these hills has to be seen to believe. You will take winding roads through the gorgeously lush plantations past tea bushes trimmed by regular picking that look like green sculptures stretching up and down the misty hills as far as the eye can see. Enjoy your journey – this is the complete experience. With brick and stone-built houses, rose gardens and perfect lawns Nuwara Eliya in many ways resembles a ‘Small English village’. Learn to make your better half’s favorite blend of tea as well during the tea factory tour!

Return to your bungalow and spend your evening walking together in the well-kept gardens enjoying a delicious assortment of snacks complemented by a cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee.

If it’s the harvesting season you can take part in the activities with the villages and be rewarded with grateful smiles. What better way to celebrate being together than by helping local families with the harvesting or teaching a few English words to the children of the area?

Take a refreshing walk through a rural village across paddy fields and farming land. Enjoy a lunch at a farmer’s house along with tea and sweet meats to follow. Indulge in a hearty vegan lunch prepared the traditional way, including your choice of organic rice harvested from the resorts’ own paddy fields and an array of curries prepared with fresh produce from the organic garden. Return to the resort and relax enjoying a refreshing cocktail by the poolside. The gorgeously romantic pool at Jetwing Kaduruketha is inspired by an ancient pond believed to be used by Sugala Devi, Queen of the Ruhuna Kingdom (approx. 12th A.D). Overnight: Era Beach – Bed & breakfast basis

After breakfast transfer to the beaches of Rekawa and Thalpe-Galle!

En route pass the Rekawa beach where you can see turtles hatching naturally. Observe how baby turtles proceed on to the ocean together as this will be such a rewarding and memorable experience.

With palm-lined beaches, turquoise waters and a good selection of guesthouses and restaurants, Unawatuna is very popular with couples. However the best area for privacy and serene beauty is Thalpe, which is very near all the great hidden beaches such as Hiriketiya, Dalawalla, Weligama, Rummassala and Mirissa!

Rest of the day at leisure by the beach sunbathing together in oblivion or exploring the grand Galle fort hand in hand!

Day 8 : Route – Galle-Thalpe and around

Highlights: Hiriketiya, Dalawalla and Rummasala Beaches, Whale Watching in Yacht, Galle

Overnight: Era Beach – Bed & breakfast basis

After breakfast explore the Hiriketiya, Dalawalla and Rummasala beaches.

Fringed by tropical forest and lapped by surging surf, this tiny horseshoe-shaped cove is fast becoming one of Sri Lanka’s coolest beaches. For now it’s still somewhat off the radar and draws an in-the-know crowd of independent travellers and ex-pats. Hiriketiya’s appeal is easy to understand: it’s tucked well away from the highway traffic that curses many southern Sri Lankan beaches and there are no looming hotels, only a handful of low-key guesthouses – for now.

The Rumassala Beach is rich in biodiversity and the reef acts as a protected sanctuary and serves as a major archaeological site. It is a well-known place for fishing and is also suitable for canoodling couples as it offers beauty, safety from waves and privacy.

Dubbed as a tropical paradise, Mirissa on the southern coast is secluded beach destination in Sri Lanka, perfect for couples. With palm trees lining the outskirts, the romantic spot also provides much-needed privacy to couples. You can hire a private yacht and sail away together into the sunrise in search of whales and dolphins.

Afterwards explore the delightful Galle fort; Galle is a jewel. A Unesco World Heritage Site, this historic city is a delight to explore on foot arm in arm, an endlessly exotic old trading port blessed with imposing Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient mosques and churches, grand mansions and museums. Wandering its rambling mysterious lanes you’ll pass stylish cafes, charming boutiques and impeccably restored restaurants owned by local and foreign artists, writers, photographers and designers where you can enjoy a romantic meal together in the sunset!

Day 9 : Route – Galle-Thalpe to Airport

Drive time: approx. 3 hours

After a leisurely day, head to the airport in time for your flight with pleasant memories together with many hopes and dreams about your future!
