Ravana Falls is more than just a scenic cascade, it’s a site steeped in mythology and majesty. Located just 6 km from Ella, this 25 meter waterfall is easily one of the most accessible and photographed in Sri Lanka. But what makes it iconic is not just the view, it’s the epic history surrounding it. 

According to the Indian epic Ramayana, King Ravana is said to have hidden Princess Sita in the nearby Ravana Ella Cave, making this waterfall part of a much larger narrative of love, abduction and divine battles. Today, both locals and visitors still feel the mystical energy of the place. 

The falls are at their most powerful during the rainy season when they rush down the mountains in multi tiered glory, bouncing off rocks and creating refreshing pools below.
