This itinerary has been carefully designed to give you a taste of the exciting, endless possibilities and can be tailored to suit your exact preferences.

Day 1 : Route – Airport / Negombo

Drive Time – Approximately 30 Minutes

Accommodation – Villa Hundira

Meal Basis – Bed and Breakfast Basis

Arrive in Sri Lanka in the style you deserve, greeted by your chauffeur guide and transferred directly to Negombo where you can relax and unwind by the romantic lagoon.

With the laid back feel of the countryside and warm Sri Lankan hospitality, your villa is the ideal place to start your perfect Sri Lanka travel experience together.

Day 2 : Route – Colombo / Pinnawala / Sigiriya

Drive Time – Negombo to Sigiriya –Approx. 4.5 hours

Accommodation – Water Garden Sigiriya

If you are in a mood to wake up a bit early you can stroll hand in hand along the Lellama beach to see the fish market and the livelihood of the fishermen of the coastal area. Have breakfast at the villa and then commence your romantic holiday by setting off to experience the inland delights of the island.

Don’t forget to enjoy some crunchy cashews sold by the girls in Kaju gama on the way. They dress in colorful dresses and emerge from coconut leaf huts to hail vehicles to stop to buy cashews. You’ll be able to enjoy some freshly roasted cashews in this small village.

To begin with your inland experience, drop by the Millennium elephant foundation and meet the few resident elephants there. You can have a walk with them and help them bathe and feed them with respect and care. The sight of the elephants roaming around, rubbing themselves against trees and playing together will remain etched in your memory for the rest of your life.

Afterwards, continue to your hotel in Sigiriya, check-in and enjoy some down time in your decorated room with a complimentary wine glass.

Depart in the late afternoon to see the sun set from one of the Sri Lanka’s most magical Buddhist treasures – the spectacular cave temples of Dambulla to explore the paintings depicting the Life and preaching of the Ven. Lord Buddha. Enjoy a stunning romantic sunset to mark a perfect end for the day with two cocktails in hand.

Day 3 : Route – Sigiriya

Accommodation – Water Garden Sigiriya

 Today early morning climb up to Pidurangala rock to enjoy an astounding sunset.

Even though Sigiriya rock is wealthy in history with a few beautiful sensational highlights such as the lion’s paw and the mirror wall, Pidurangala rock has a much earthier feel to it. Pidurangala is also best known for its amazing 360-degree views of Sigiriya and outskirt at the sunrise.

After the climb enjoy a drink of king coconut from a nearby shop or enjoy a snack of cut pineapple by a road side vendor together.

In the afternoon ride two bicycles together and visit one of the better kept ruins of ancient Ceylon – the UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th – 13th century A.D.  The glories of that age can be found in archaeological treasures which give a pretty good idea of how the city looked in its heyday. You’ll find the archaeological park a delight to explore, with hundreds of ancient structures – tombs and temples, statues and stupas – in a compact core.

 

Day 4 : Route – Sigiriya / Kandy / Hatton

Drive Time – Sigiriya to Kandy – Approx. 2.5 hours / Kandy to Hatton – Approx. 2.5 hours (train)

 After an early breakfast, journey south today, out of the arid dry-lands, through the lush jungle and into the verdant green of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful region, the magical Hill Country. Proceed to Kandy where you will catch a train to the quiet town of Hatton, admiring the gorgeous and romantic scenery together.

A ride by local train Hatton, located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, and popular for its Ceylon Tea plantations. With its cool air, magnificent waterfalls, and thriving tea culture, the enchanting allure of these hills must to be seen to be believed. Clicketty-clack through dark tunnels on winding tracks, past tea bushes trimmed by regular picking that look like green sculptures stretching up and down the misty hills as far as the eye can see. While on board do not forget to spare few rupees to buy some short eats and sweets from the local food vendor or to tip the local singer who will be singing on top of his lungs.

Spend the rest of the day at your leisure in a colonial tea planter’s bungalow with a cup of tea in your hand, enjoying your surroundings and the pleasant change in temperature. Staying at the grand colonial style homesteads with period interiors, excellent service and wonderful ambiance is an experience that you will cherish lifelong. See the specially decorated room and enjoy a complimentary wine glass or whiskey by the fire together in privacy.

Day 5: Hatton

Today take a guided tour of the Tea Factory which is a quintessential tea experience in Sri Lanka. What went into creating the perfect cup of refreshing Ceylon tea in 1867 were equal parts science, art, sleight of hand, and a spot of luck.

With the tea planter by your side who will passionately delves into all aspects of tea in just the right amount of detail – from a look back to the early days of “planting” and the lifestyles of the early colonial settlers, to the manufacturing process, to how flavors are created to suit various palates. You can learn the exact tea blend preferred by your partner and delight them back home!

For lunch enjoy a picnic lunch on the hillside flanked by tea and jungle on either side, with vistas of the rolling tea fields that start from the glassy Castlereagh Lake and creep up on to jagged mountaintops.  Enjoying a lunch in open air would be a romantic and memorable experience

You can also enjoy a largely flat and downhill bike ride in the Castlereagh area. From your bungalow you will take cleared estate roads around the lake to reach the base of Laxapana waterfall. The views are stunning, particularly on a clear evening. You will be passing British built churches and Hindu temples on your way. Stroll around the trails hand in hand and enjoy the cooling evening and high tea. The scones and are just fantastic and you can experience all the good things of colonial England with your private butler.

Day 6 : Route – Hatton to Weligama

Drive Time – Approx. 7 hours

Accommodation – Cape Weligama

One of Sri Lanka’s charms is that in a short time you will pass from the hills to the meandering rivers, past the farms and then to the idyllic coast of Weligama.  The city of Weligama which means the Sandy Village is an interesting blend between world class resorts and a lively fishing town.

Retreat to your luxurious abode as you spend the rest of the day carefree. As you step out on the sands don’t be surprised if your footprints are one of the few as the beach is fairly private.

Day 7 : Route – Weligama

Galle is the country’s oldest living city and is sure to capture your interest, with its historic sites and its unique fusion of European and Arabic cultural and architectural influences. Spend some time exploring this romantic fort town and its rich history hand in hand.

You can sample some incredibly flavorful buriyani and local gelato together. You can also surprise your better half by renting out a sailing yacht and sail into the sunset together. Day 8 : Route – Weligama / Airport

Drive Time – Approximately 3 hours

As all good things must come to an end, your chauffeur guide will comfortably take you to the international airport in time for your return flight and you will always think of Lanka as the most romantic and authentic experience.
