Rangala House

What is it Really like?

The single storey house is set in its own grounds, a short distance from the nearest village. It is tucked away below the lane and approached down covered steps which connect the double garage to the main house.

The gardens are steeply sloped and a stream runs through, providing fresh water for the fish pond. There is a delightful terrace, shaded by a passion flower trellis, where you can snooze in a hammock or a rattan swing.

Where is it?

Rangala House is situated on the edge of the Knuckles Forest Region – now classified as a world heritage site. This area is up-country from Kandy on the North Eastern side. Coming from Kandy , the journey (slightly more than one hour) takes you through Digana, Teldeniya and then left, through Udispattuwa and onto the Duckwari tea estate. At an altitude of just under 1000 metres above sea level, the situation is significantly higher up in the hill country than Kandy (500 metres) and the climate is noticeably cooler and fresher.
